About Eric
I sat my A-Levels at Eton College this summer — Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Theology — with results due in August (predicted A* in Economics). This autumn I'm heading to the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton, to study business, which is where my interest in the subject is going next: I'm drawn to economics as a way of thinking about real decisions under constraint, not as a set of diagrams to reproduce.
The practical thing I offer is timing. I sat the current papers a few weeks ago, so I know this specification and these mark schemes as they stand now — including how the longer essays are actually being marked, which is where most of the grade is decided.
I've tutored for three years as a volunteer teaching English, and spent a year working one-to-one with younger boys in my boarding house at Eton as House Captain. Both taught me that progress comes from patience and from finding the specific thing a student is stuck on, rather than re-explaining the whole topic.

About my teaching:
Most students lose marks in economics for one of two reasons: they know the content but can't build an argument with it, or they write fluently without any analytical chain underneath.
So my sessions concentrate on translating a deep conceptual understanding of content into great essays. That means chains of reasoning that actually connect economic theory to real-world application, evaluation that weighs and prioritises rather than listing "on the other hand," and judgements that follow from the analysis instead of being tacked on at the end. We work from past papers and mark schemes throughout, so you can see exactly where the marks sit.
I'm equally comfortable on the quantitative side — elasticity and multiplier calculations, index numbers, and reading the diagrams properly rather than drawing them from memory. Having taken Maths and Further Maths alongside Economics, I find the data-response questions are often where confident essay writers quietly lose marks.
Who the lessons are for:
GCSE and A-Level Economics students of any ability, across all major boards — whether you're building confidence with the fundamentals or pushing from a B to an A*.
