My teaching method for English is to get the students to do most of the talking so that they can have practise during the lessons whilst learning new things. I find by having conversations about topics, students learn to express themselves more confidently using English which will encourage them to keep practising, even outside of the lessons. I also like to play games and do quizzes.
When teaching science, my approach is to get the students to learn to think for themselves by questioning them, and asking them how and why to get detailed answers from them. I find guided self-discovery works wonders on self-esteem, and getting great grades. This learning style is well aligned with the NCEA curriculum. As with all learning, it should be fun, with games and quizzes, and interesting.
I am an ESOL teacher with a CELTA certificate and have been teaching English classes in person and online for the past year. I have experience teaching one on one, and also experience teaching classrooms of twenty students. I have taught ages primary to adult. I have also tutored NCEA level English for high school students. I have also a bachelors of science degree and can happily teach science subjects.
