About John

I have been an ESL English teacher for 20 years teaching in Asia and in Canada with internationally known language schools both in classrooms as well as online to young students as well as business professionals. I have a bachelor's degree as well a TESOL teaching certificate.

About the lesson

My teaching method is one-to-one or two-to-one, interactive and conversational in style and includes grammar and vocabulary building texts, videos and audio materials. All materials are based on an assessment of the student's current level and abilities.

A typical lesson involves a warm up conversation and reviewing what was learned in the previous lesson as well as any homework that was assigned. Then, building upon what was learned in the previous lesson, we move on to the next items to be learned. With new material I demonstrate how the grammar and vocabulary are used and work to ensure the student understands the new material and is able to use it correctly. Classes may include conversation, listening to audio or watching videos and then asking questions about the content.

My teaching style is fun, engaging and dynamic. I have taught all levels of grammar and vocabulary development from very basic to advanced including English for business and career development and social interaction.

My classes are for anyone from a young or adult new learner of English to students and adults who need specialized English for university or career development.
