I have spent many years teaching humanities. I enjoy working with students of all ages and learning skill levels. I have about 30 years of teaching experience. My most rewarding accomplishment was teaching a mentally disabled student from India. Her classes included English 101, American history and music. She had failed English 101 three times. Because she was on academic probation, this was her last chance to pass English 101 without being disqualified. She had lost all hope and wanted to drop out of college. I encouraged her and helped her work on her self-esteem and study skills. I told her that she was special and gifted in her own way. I clearly explained that if she worked hard, she would graduate. Her father told me that I was the only teacher or tutor with any success. As a result of hard work, she graduated from Santa Monica College.
