About Julianna
I finished in the top 2% of my graduating class in high school and I am now an undergraduate student at Kean University studying Environmental Science. I graduated with my Associate's of Science Degree in Environmental Science with a 4.0 gpa. I tutored my classmates and other students throughout middle school and high school in math and science. I come from a long line of science teachers in which I grew up with science experiments being done at the kitchen table. I am very excited to assist students that are trying to find their way in the STEM world. Life skills such as time-management, organization, and planning are the key to success in this field and I can't wait to show students the many methods I have learned over the years and how to apply them in real life.

For math problems especially, I like to take a direct example and solve it while showing the student my exact steps. Next, I assist them in solving the problem. Then I allow the student to solve a problem of the same type without my assistance. This method allows the student to observe, practice, and critical think on their own. A typical lesson plan (for either math or science) would consist of practice questions followed by an in-depth review of the questions to review any mistakes. After assessing where most mistakes were made, I will focus on areas where the student is clearly struggling and present detailed explanations or visual aids depending on the student's needs and learning style. The lesson will end in a final set of questions that are similar to the first to assess what the student has learned during the tutoring session. These lessons are meant for middle school or high school students taking Algebra, Precalculus, Biology, Environmental Science, or Statistics. The lessons can focus on test prep, homework assistance, or AP Exam prep.
