About Mackenzie

I have always had a passion for learning and spreading my knowledge on important and interesting topics, especially within biology and environmental sciences. Having studied environmental biology in university, I gained so much knowledge about the natural world, how we as humans are connected to nature and how our actions, both past and present, are impacting the state of the world.
Since my undergrad, I have done extensive research at my job in freshwater biology. I have been involved in several projects at my non-profit organization, the River Institute, and have learned so much in my time as a research biologist. My position has strengthened my skills in reading, scientific writing and critical thinking, as well as simplifying scientific concepts into simpler terms for public understanding.
Having grown up in Ontario, near the boarder of Quebec (CAN), it was important for me to learn French as my second language. I was able to complete an bilingual certificate in high school and become proficient in reading and writing in French. Finally, something not everyone can relate to I'm sure, I have always loved math! I found calculating and solving problems came naturally to me, so I am more than happy to help my students with any math courses in high school, or start with the basics for elementary students.
I am open to talking through an ideal tutoring plan for any student and look forward to meeting those interested in gaining some knowledge!

About the lesson

I share my knowledge in many ways and want to give my students options for how they choose to learn. For my tutoring services I want to know the best way my student can take in information - whether that be through power point presentations, informative videos, talking through problems, learning a concept step-by-step or by using diagrams and other visuals. My services are all through online sessions, making it easy to share information and content.
My time can be used for understanding the current classes you are in, helping with homework, gaining knowledge on topics you want to know more about (climate change, fish biology, human evolution, etc.), or for those just starting out with reading and writing (English or French).
