About Katie
I’m a dedicated and experienced tutor offering support in Biology and English across a range of levels, from GCSE and A-level to university and adult learners.
My experience spans a variety of educational settings. I have tutored A-level Biology in a school, providing targeted, one-on-one support to help students strengthen their subject knowledge, improve exam technique, and build academic confidence. I also taught on a university module at King’s College London, Science Communication. The module focused on written communication through creative writing, news writing, and analytical work, while also exploring the philosophy of science and the wider role of scientific discourse in society. These experiences have deepened my ability to support students with both the content and context of science and English, while adapting to a range of academic levels and learning styles.
I have a Zoology degree and masters in Science Communication from Imperial College London.

In our lessons, I focus on building confidence and independence through a clear structure. Each session is tailored to the student’s specific concerns or goals. We begin by reviewing key theory, then reinforce understanding through an engaging task or game designed to make the material memorable and enjoyable. This is followed by working through an exam-style question—sometimes together using guided suggestions and feedback, and sometimes independently. Over time, we work toward students being able to approach these tasks on their own with growing confidence and skill. I provide constructive feedback during the session on any work produced, creating space for reflection, clarification, and questions as we go.
