About Simon
I love helping students to achieve their potential in Chemistry. I thrive in helping students who think "they can't" to move to "I can't yet", and then to "I can". In my current Year 11 class, 78% of pupils are achieving a grade 9-7 consistently in their mock exams and I have a good track record of A*-B in my sixth form classes, averaging above 70%

I pride myself on an approach which blends friendliness with laser focused expertise and subject knowledge to develop students' success in their GCSE and A-levels.
Lessons last one hour and usually begin with brief, low-stakes retrieval practice to assess prior knowledge and retention. We then move to the main body of the lesson where I will respond to your specific requests for subject matter and respond to your emerging needs as the lesson progresses. We will use recent, exam board specific past paper questions, mark schemes and examiners notes to boost your success, and we will practise techniques in collaboration, giving you a sense of ownership and confidence that you can achieve your goals.
I have a degree in Analytical chemistry and am a qualified teacher, I have been teaching and tutoring GCSE and A-level Chemistry for 16 years. I have also been a Head of Chemistry and a teacher trainer and I am an examiner for AQA GCSE Chemistry

Simon tutored me through my chemistry GCSE years ago - i couldnt understand much of the subject, but he made it make a lot more sense. He was patient and understanding, and didnt give up when I struggled. I would highly recommend, he is a great teacher!
