About Sophia

I have been playing the piano for 16 years and have been teaching flute/piano/music theory for 7 years. I frequently play in bands and orchestras and I believe that it is never too late to start learning the piano and I have taught students with different goals in mind such as just starting out to see where it leads, wanting to learn how to play the chords to their favourite tunes and also the traditional route with ABRSM Practical/Theory Grades.

About the lesson

I always have a session where I talk to the student and work out what their goals are and what they want to achieve. After this, I tailor the lessons to those goals and set achievable practice goals depending on the student's schedules. With young students, I aim to make the lessons fun and exciting with a different method to those who are a little older. I am also able to give more information and context on the composers that we are playing if the student is interested as this is my area of study at university.

Sophie is a kind, patient, motivating and engaging teacher and Jess has come on leaps and bounds under her guidance. Sophie is also really flexible, as well as exam prep she has helped Jess learn some of her favourite pop songs which has kept the lessons fun and exciting. Thanks Sophie!
