About Xiaofan

My name is Xiaofan, or you can call me Stella! I’m a native Chinese speaker from Tianjin, a city not far from the capital Beijing. Now I’m a postgraduate student studying in the University of Manchester.

I am an inspirational person who loves teaching very much! And I’ve also got tons of tutoring experiences for these years. Currently I’ve been doing a Mandarin tutoring work in my school, helping students who are interested in learning Chinese get holistically improved. Back to my college years, I used to be a volunteer teacher in Egypt and Morocco. I also got my Putonghua (Mandarin) Certificate and National Teacher Certificate in 2019.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, making journals, taking photos and creating vlogs. I’ve been to more than 11 countries and most parts of China. We can definitely talk a lot about your hobbies or anything you are interested by using Mandarin Chinese! I’ll teach you how to express your ideas in a clear and native way. It would be fun!

About the lesson

Speaking of my teaching style, it’s quite instructive, motivational, and flexible. Before each session, I’ll make a specific teaching plan based on your learning purpose, current Mandarin level as well as previous learning experiences. I do value productive learning, so it’s totally fine to share your ideas with me, if you want to make some adjustments aligned to your needs. During the class, useful vocabulary and grammar will be covered. I’ll also prepare you some popular Chinese idioms that we native speakers frequently use to help you sound more native!

Besides, you’ll be highly encouraged to speak Mandarin in our daily conversations. I know it could be challenging. Don’t worry, I can definitely explain things in English to make you clear. But still, my advice is— don’t spoil yourself and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Because I’ll be 200% enthusiastic and patient to correct you and help you make progress! All you need to do is be fully engaged and enjoy the process! Trust me it works. XD
