About Helen
I am a second year student at the University of Edinburgh, studying French MA, alongside varying modules in European literature, Theatre and Cinema, as well as selected medieval literature and culture. I have both a GCSE and A Level in French, to a High standard. I passed my first year at University with flying colours, achieving a 2:1 in French, as well as modules in Intermediate Spanish. I am a keen and competent teacher, who is dedicated and enthusiastic about languages and French, and eager to help others achieve their goals.

I approach French by focusing on the two main, but different, elements: language and literature. Within language I focus on grammar, as well as oral competence and comprehension. For these classes I like to engage with the student and develop activities pertaining to the relevant grammar post or oral topic for that lesson. For literature, I like to incorporate reading comprehension, as well as a broader knowledge of French culture. These lessons will focus on extracts from literature or film, and will examine themes and concepts relevant to them, as well as their surrounding context. I strive to make each lesson interesting and helpful, and I can tailor the lessons to each tutee.
