About Aloka
My name is Aloka and I am a 4th-year Biochemistry (MBiochem) student at the University of Bath. I have been tutoring for 3+ years and I believe my main passion lies in teaching and explaining concepts. I started tutoring in 2023 to help hone my communication and interpersonal skills—but soon realised that teaching benefits both sides equally.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding students' personal strengths and weaknesses to ensure that concepts can be grasped quicker and in more depth, something that is very essential to achieve excelling grades in exams.
Over the period of my tutoring journey and my degree, I have developed an expertise in simplifying complex concepts into more digestible formats, as students usually struggle with understanding the fundamental concepts that are in their syllabi, leading to difficulties in applying concepts in a more synoptic manner in exam questions.
Moreover, I believe that finding joy in learning is also crucial to retain concepts better in and to hone the long-term memory rather than the short-term memory. Understanding concepts better gives students a sense of gratification, which thus fuels their drive to learn more—which is exactly what I want to achieve from tutoring.
