About Helen
I focus on teaching academic writing because I believe many schools do not clearly explain the fundamentals of essay writing or how to approach texts, despite the fact that these skills become increasingly important throughout higher education. Teachers often assume students already have this knowledge and may spoon-feed ready-made analyses of exam texts just to get through the curriculum, without showing students how to construct a coherent answer.
Since there is no set “textbook” approach to writing, one-to-one support can be especially valuable for developing a personal writing style.
