About Daniella

Hi, I’m Daniella! A Year 13 student at Rolleston College with a strong passion for English, particularly in writing, reading, and helping others express their ideas clearly and confidently. I am currently working towards a Classics scholarship at the University of Canterbury, with the goal of becoming a high school teacher in Classics and English. I genuinely enjoy analyzing texts, developing writing skills, and supporting students to build both their ability and confidence in English.

Alongside my academic goals, I have experience teaching as a dance tutor, where I have worked with students of different ages and abilities. This has helped me develop patience, clear communication, and the ability to adapt my teaching style to suit each learner. I aim to create a calm, encouraging, and friendly environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace. Whether it’s reading, writing, or CV preparation, I love helping students gain confidence and discover the joy of learning.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, focusing on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. I use a variety of teaching techniques, including guided exercises, discussion-based learning, and practical examples, to develop students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. I tailor each lesson to the individual’s needs, adapting my methods to suit different learning styles and abilities. Typical lessons last between 60 to 75 minutes, allowing enough time for instruction, practice, and feedback while maintaining engagement and focus.

I bring experience from teaching as a dance tutor, where I developed patience, clear communication, and the ability to guide students of varying ages and abilities. As a Year 13 student at Rolleston College working towards a Classics scholarship at the University of Canterbury, I have strong academic knowledge in English and Classics, and I am passionate about helping others succeed. My lessons are designed for students aged 11–15, including those preparing for NCEA Level 1, with the goal of improving their confidence, understanding, and skills in reading, writing, and CV preparation.
