About Anoop
My name is Anoop, and I was born and raised in Canada. I have always enjoyed teaching, especially in English and Math. I am an avid reader and love helping others learn. Currently, I am developing my own video game, which gives me daily practice in creative writing, grant applications, and project pitching. As part of my studies, I wrote, assisted with, and edited academic papers. I also took multiple creative writing courses and completed extensive essay writing for Greek and Roman studies. My degree led me to a career in software engineering, where I frequently wrote large technical design documents that required precise language. I often reviewed résumés and cover letters as part of my responsibilities, and I conducted interviews. I have also enjoyed and practiced public speaking through formal debate competitions, speech contests, and numerous professional presentations.

I have worked with many students with very different needs, and I tailor each lesson to the individual. This is your time, and I will teach based on your specific goals. Having said that, I generally recommend the following approach: My first priority is building a strong understanding of grammar and sentence structure. This can be done through editing your work or through more formal lessons. The goal is always to help you communicate clearly. From there, we apply these skills to your current needs or projects. Then I tailor lessons more specifically to the student’s needs, often focusing on domain-specific skills. For example, we can work on essay writing, technical writing, or public speaking, depending on your current goals. For those new to English, I can also cover idioms, cultural nuances, humor, and slang. I believe these are essential for true immersion in any language, and it is beneficial to start early. This is especially important for those planning to move to a predominantly English-speaking country.
