About Bryan

I’ve always believed that clear communication is a survival skill, whether you’re in a professional environment or a high-performance classroom. My path to teaching wasn't a straight line—it was shaped by my time in the military and years of navigating the professional world before I found my place in education. Today, I’m an English Subject Matter Expert at a top-tier STEM school in Arizona, where I help 6th and 8th-graders tackle some of the most accelerated curricula in the country.

I’m a parent myself, so I know the pressure students feel to "perform." I also know that many students struggle because they see writing as a chore rather than a tool. My goal is to bridge that gap. I bring a no-nonsense, disciplined approach to my sessions, but I keep things grounded and human. I want my students to leave our sessions not just with a better essay, but with the confidence to handle the next challenge on their own.

About the lesson

- My Approach -
I’m a Subject Matter Expert at a top STEM school in Arizona. My focus is on teaching students to analyze texts and construct logical, persuasive arguments rather than just memorizing for grades. I believe that strong writing stems from deep literary analysis. Whether we’re examining a poem’s meter or a novel’s themes, I guide students in extracting evidence to build sophisticated arguments, utilizing tools like Lexile measures and Bloom’s Taxonomy to foster higher-level thinking.

- Typical Lesson -
We start with a quick "logic check" or analysis of a rhetorical device, then move into collaborative writing. Using the "I Do, We Do, You Do" model, I demonstrate how to analyze a passage, we practice together, and then you lead. This approach boosts student confidence and preparedness for growth.

I work daily with 6th- and 8th-graders at an accelerated pace. I understand how students can transition from "good" writing to "college-ready" analysis. I maintain high standards in every session while keeping the material practical and accessible.
