About Chloe

My name is Chloe, and I am an English major at the University of Guelph with a minor in Business. I grew up with a processing disorder and ADHD, so I understand how challenging learning can feel. I didn’t learn to read until grade three, but phonics transformed my experience, and now I’m studying English at the university level. Because of my own journey, I bring patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of how to support students who learn differently.

I have five years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults. I support early readers using clear, step-by-step strategies, and I help older students strengthen reading comprehension, plan essays, improve academic writing, and prepare for high-school or university expectations. I focus on building confidence, clarity, and strong communication skills for learners at any stage.

I’m also comfortable working with students who have learning disabilities, and I adapt my approach to each learner’s needs. My long-term goal is to become a teacher and eventually a language specialist supporting children who face challenges similar to the ones I overcame.

Outside academics, I’m a well-rounded and creative person. I grew up playing competitive basketball and soccer, and I still play recreationally. I also love pottery, poetry, drawing, and painting - and I’m always happy to bring creativity into my lessons to make learning more engaging and enjoyable.

About the lesson

I teach phonetics for early readers, guide students through reading comprehension, and help them plan and organize strong essays for high school or university.

I am also experienced and comfortable working with students who have learning disabilities, and I adapt my teaching style to meet each learner’s needs. I’m happy to work with any age range, from early readers to mature students returning to school.

A typical lesson begins with a quick check‑in, followed by targeted skill practice and a clear, achievable goal for the day. I tailor every session to the student’s level and learning style, making lessons supportive, engaging, and easy to follow.

My lessons are ideal for early readers, middle‑school students needing literacy support, and high‑school or first‑year university students who want help structuring essays, improving clarity, or preparing for academic writing.
