About Maren
I have always had a strong passion for language especially English but also am fluent in French and well-versed in Spanish. I am patient, encouraging, and willing to explain concepts in different ways until they make sense. My experience studying English Literature has given me a strong foundation in literary analysis and academic writing, while my customer service experience has taught me how to communicate clearly, adapt to different personalities, and work effectively under pressure.

As an English Literature student, I understand that English can feel overwhelming when you’re struggling with where to start. My approach is focused on making challenging material clear, approachable, and relevant to each student. I adapt my teaching style to the student’s individual needs, whether they need help understanding course material, developing stronger writing skills, preparing for an exam, or building confidence in their abilities.
I use a combination of discussion, guided analysis, examples, and hands-on practice. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I encourage them to develop their own ideas and learn how to communicate them effectively. For writing, I focus on skills such as thesis development, essay structure, close reading, argumentation, grammar, and clarity. For literature, I help students break down difficult texts, identify important themes and literary techniques, and develop strong interpretations.
