About Laura
Hi, I'm Laura! I'm an English Literature and Spanish graduate from Cardiff University, as well as a BBC-trained writer and producer with a passion for helping students become confident readers, writers and communicators.
Throughout my career so far, I've worked in radio, journalism and digital media, writing scripts, articles and content that reach thousands of people. This real-world experience means I can help students understand not only what examiners are looking for, but also how to write clearly, think critically and communicate with confidence.
I know that English can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when it comes to analysing texts or structuring essays. My aim is to make lessons engaging, supportive and fun, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence at their own pace.
Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels or simply looking to improve your writing skills, I'll tailor each lesson to your individual goals and learning style. Together, we'll focus on developing strong analytical skills, effective exam techniques and, most importantly, the confidence to achieve your potential.
Outside of tutoring, I work freelance in radio and the music industry, and I love reading, travelling and discovering new music.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they're looking to improve confidence in English or Spanish, prepare for exams, or strengthen their essay-writing skills. I believe students learn best when lessons are engaging, supportive and interactive, so I focus on building confidence alongside subject knowledge. Together we'll work through texts, exam questions and writing techniques at a pace that suits the student, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practise applying what they've learnt.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I'm happy to offer shorter sessions for younger students or longer sessions if required.
I hold a degree in English Literature with Spanish from Cardiff University and have professional writing and communications experience through my work with the BBC, where I completed a Production Assistant Apprenticeship with Distinction. My work has involved scriptwriting, journalism, copywriting and producing content for radio and digital platforms, giving me real-world experience in effective communication that I bring into my teaching.
I offer tuition for GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature, and GCSE Spanish. I can also offer tuition to adults seeking to learn the basics of Spanish. My lessons are suitable for students who want to improve their confidence, achieve higher grades, or prepare for exams, and I aim to create a friendly, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills.
