About Monica
I am an English/History teacher of 20 years. I received a BA and an MA in schools in San Francisco. I teach literature, poetry, essay writing, ESL, history, Spanish and subjects within the humanities. I love working with students and helping them to appreciate and improve on their studies. I have worked for private academies to help students gain as much as they can from their course work.

My method of teaching is relating course material to what is relevant and impactful on everyday life. I like to bring the course work to a level of understanding that a student might be able to grasp and think on his or her own. I believe it is important to make connections with whatever subject is at hand, and this way the student has a more profound way understanding of what they are studying. Discussions and a lot of patience help with allowing the student think aloud and gain more insights. I like to keep my classes on the level that my student or students understand, and I do not rush them as a result. I find that a comfortable environment also helps, so I am always aware of how they are feeling.
