About Shae

Hello :) I'm Shae. I'm currently at University studying English literature and creative writing; my degree is both my passion and my main hobby. I want to tutor because I know from experience teachers do not have one on one time to give struggling students, especially heading toward mock season and exam season. I have time and knowledge in the subject that I want to give to those worried and anxious about their exams. I also know that a lot of the time, especially regarding revision, the teachers' way of doing it doesn't fit every student, and I know some students don't know how or can't figure out the right way to revise for them; so I want to be the helping hand to help students figure out what's right for them so they can get the grades and results they want.

My passion for my subject is very strong and I would like to pass that on to students who haven't found that passion yet or just rather don't enjoy the subject in school. I want to try and make you enjoy the subject while excelling in it!

About the lesson

I'll be focusing on the goals you have provided me with. I will work with you alongside the mark schemes of the exam board your school works from and then work together to fufill what the exam board is asking you to do within your exams. Once we have got you familiar with the exam board and mark scheme we will work on analyzing the texts you are studying and further familiarising you with literary and historical context, to further amplify your grade. We will then focus on essay writing together in which we will, together write an essay up to the grade of which you aspire to reach. We will also discuss what you can do on your own in terms of revision to further add to your grade and fufill your academic goals!

The typical length of a lesson will be around 45 minutes, in order to make sure we are covering everything that is needed. Giving us time to work together and then separately, and discuss what I would like you to do in order to prepare for our next session.

I have experience as a literary mentor/ tutor, tutoring young teens from 11-13. Focusing on those struggling with reading comprehension and writing.

My lessons can be tailored towards KS2 and KS3, for those struggling in English. However, my lessons will be mostly aimed towards those entering GCSE and A-levels, preparing them for their exams.
