About Sophie
I have 15+ years experience teaching English, academic skills and academic literacy, and I have worked in Canada, the UK, Japan and Slovakia (in universities and private language schools).
I really enjoy working with students and helping them to reach their goals! I try to make my classes comfortable and 'chatty' as I believe that this helps fluency and growth.

I have taught all skills areas at a range of different levels.
I tend to work with pre-entry university students on academic skills, but I have also worked with teenagers on general English skills.
I aim to ensure that my students experience a culturally sensitive student-centred classroom (or online space) with active engagement.
I focus my teaching on scaffolding, authentic tasks, improving criticality and reflection.
