About Beth

My aim is to help you build confidence in English and achieve the academic results you are capable of. I understand that English at any level can feel challenging, especially when students have not always received the individual support or encouragement they need. I provide a kind and supportive environment where students feel valued and able to succeed.

I achieved a Grade 9 in both GCSE English Language and Literature, an A in English Language and an A* in English Literature. I then graduated from Newcastle University in 2025 with a BA (Hons) in English Language. Through my own experience, I understand what strong exam responses require and can help students develop the skills and confidence needed to improve.

Over the past year, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in an Ofsted Outstanding mainstream secondary school, supporting GCSE English lessons. This has given me a strong understanding of the current AQA curriculum and assessment requirements.
During this time I supported students with a range of needs, including those with Autism, ADHD, Speech Language & Communication Needs and Dyslexia. I am confident and experienced in adapting learning material and content for SEND students, and I will work with them and those close to them to help achieve their full potential.

Now I am studying a Speech and Language Therapy MMedSci at the University of Sheffield, which I am really excited about!

About the lesson

My lessons are typically 1 hour long and are tailored to KS3, GCSE and A Level English students of all abilities. I adapt my teaching style to suit each student, whether that means a structured approach or a more flexible format. Lessons can include recap of previous learning, exploring new content, guided analysis, exam practice and personalised feedback. I aim to create a kind, encouraging and supportive environment where students can build confidence, strengthen their skills and achieve their academic goals.
