About Katherine
Since returning to the U.S. in 2021, I have taught seven students Chinese speaking, comprehension, reading and writing. Levels range from beginner to advanced. I do test prep as well (AP, placement tests, college language requirement testing-out), and culture classes for kids. Language preparation for travel and intercultural communication seminars are other classes I teach, having worked in the Chinese auto industry and other mainland companies for some time.

My name is Katherine Miller Zhang, 小米. I am not a native speaker, but since I moved to China soon after childhood, I am often taken for one. I have ten years of teaching experience, including of Chinese as a Foreign Language. Taking language lessons from someone who can explain grammar concepts from the perspective of having learned them initially from classes too, has distinct advantages. I can tell you as well that Chinese is not half as hard for English speakers to learn as most people fear. Let me help you make progress step by step as we explore this practical, artistic, rules-based and culture-imbued language together!
