About Chris

Hi there! I have been teaching English in international schools and language schools for the last 8 years. I have returned to my homeland... From where? India, Austria, UK, and Indonesia. Doing what? EFL, IGCSE, IB, IELTS, Business English, essay writing, persuasive writing, formal reports, speeches, creative writing, reading skills, writing analysis, public speaking coaching, and more! With who? Ages 6 and up. Mostly 14-16 year olds, and adults. My students' IGCSE results were a lot higher than the world average. Anything else? Yes, I am passionate about Ultimate Frisbee, and was the Chair of Development for Indonesia, as well as the under 19 national squad coach. I have started, captained, and coached many teams and continue to develop myself and others in this sport. I even gave a Tedx talk about it!

About the lesson

Every student has different skills, learning styles, and needs, so I cater my tuition to the student. I have used the IB style with great success. It has a focus on skills first, a lot of communication, critical thinking, discussion, and always asking 'why' and 'how', not only 'what'. When skills are developed, the content (in ANY subject) becomes a lot easier to learn, and more interesting. For example, when we learn how and why persuasive language works, it gets easier and more fun to try it. We have a lot of fun in class and I aim to engage the student as much as possible, so he/she gets the most out of it. We collaborate so we avoid a 'teacher vs student' mentality. Let's do it!

Details

The travel fee covers up to 10 miles from Llansadwrn. Additional miles will be charged at £1 per mile. Group rates: £18 per student per hour (or £15 for online) - gather some friends to save some money! 1.5-hour or 2-hour sessions available. I recommend 1.5-hour sessions.
