About Annabel
Hi, my name is Annabel!
I am from Sydney, Australia, which is where I completed my high schooling, graduating with an ATAR in the top 5% in my state; my primary subjects upon graduation were Advance and Extension English, which blended both critical thinking essays and creative writing challenges.
Following graduation, I studied at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, majoring in English / Creative Writing and minoring in Screenwriting for Film and Television. I graduated from USC with honors, at a 3.9 GPA.
Since graduation, I have fused my copywriting and creative skills into the workforce in a variety of ways; PR (press releases), E-Commerce (product descriptions and short, snappy copy for websites) and long-form editorial content.
I am open to tutoring a variety of formats and styles of writing, across multiple ages. I can also adjust my review to suit UK/US formatting and grammatical approaches.

Creative writing is a very individual process and products are subjective; given this, my teaching style is one of feedback (take what you wish) from a content perspective, as well as structural challenges. I can take two approaches; 1) review your story/piece as assigned by a school or external brief, or 2) provide homework tasks in different styles and structures to challenge you in new ways that you might not have explored, or might not naturally gravitate toward in your writing.
From an essay perspective, my teaching style is much more structured; I will review essays and probe where there is more to be uncovered, constantly asking you questions to get to the root of your argument in a succinct manner. These lessons work best with something to review and work off, but for beginners we can start from the top with structural tips to kickstart a first pass.
I also have a degree in Screenwriting for Film & Television from the top film school in the U.S.,; the USC Film School in Los Angeles. If script writing is of interest, I am also happy to review and tutor work in this format.
