About Jessica

Hi, I'm Jess. I've recently Graduated from university with a First in English Literature with English Language. Though I've finished my education, I still love learning, and I think it would be great to help young people with my passion and experience as a student veteran.

If you want a friendly tutor who will be supportive but not very strict, then you have come to the right place. I'd prefer to be a helpful older friend figure that gives students lots of advice and encouragement, rather than being bossy and tell people what they must do.
I find learning a very personal experience since everybody learns differently, so as a tutor, I'll have to learn myself what you need from me: do you need help with grammar? How to construct an exam question? Or are you just getting a little stuck with the subject in general? Whatever it is you need me for, I'm sure we can work through it together.
I know learning is sometimes hard, especially if you don't enjoy a subject. I also know that English isn't the best liked subject. For example, nobody likes Shakespeare when they first start reading his work -- it's like a foreign language to most people. However, when you start to understand a little better and get things you didn't, anything can be fun. We just need to find the right angle to approach the topic for you.

I've always been passionate about helping people learn. First with my younger brothers. Then I went onto helping younger students in my high school. I volunteered helping children who struggled reading become more confident readers. Since I started university, I set up study groups with my friends. And now that I've graduated, I volunteer at the imperial war museum as an assistant helping schools.
