About Sophie Isabella
My love of reading and writing was ignited early on in primary school, and has only grown with age. I was incredibly fortunate to have wonderful English teachers who saw my potential, enabling me to cultivate excellent reading and writing skills. Their own enthusiasm is something I strive to embody in my own teaching. As an undergraduate student, I have cultivated excellent editing, academic writing and analytical skills, all of which are fundamental to my approach to tutoring.

I recently graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in English Language and Literature from a top Russell Group university. I also achieved two A*s and two Grade 9s in A-Level and GCSE Language and Literature respectively. As I have experienced the new GCSE and A-Level curriculum myself, I know first-hand how challenging it can be, and the opportunity to help students to secure their target grades in English is something I take great pride in. In addition to English tuition, I also offer tuition tailored towards proofreading UCAS personal statements, essays and written coursework, and feel that my keen eye for detail will ensure that any piece of writing is to an excellent standard before it is submitted. Though new to Superprof, I have over 400 hours of tutoring experience across platforms amassed over the final two years of my degree. I feel that my natural passion for English makes my sessions engaging and accessible for a wide range of abilities, and I feel that my recent experience as a student makes me more approachable and relatable to students than an older tutor. I'm passionate about offering a safe environment for students where they feel comfortable to discuss any difficulties they may be having in their studies, whilst also pushing them to realise the true extent of their capability. I also have a full enhanced DBS check which is viewable upon request. Typically my lessons tend to last an hour each, though I can usually accommodate longer or shorter lessons, dependent on the focus and topic. I am adaptable and open to helping students with their particular tutoring needs, however from personal experience I believe that exam practice is key to success for GCSE and A-Level English, and this is something I centre in many of my sessions. Oftentimes, my lessons involve supporting students in planning exam responses for practice questions, or offering detailed feedback on their essays based upon the particular assessment objectives for their specification. Understanding the marking criteria is also key, and I feel that breaking this down to students can be very useful in developing their exam technique. For students reaching for the top grades, I will often integrate sophisticated subject terminology and concepts in order to push them to achieving top band exam responses. Though I have aimed to give an overview of my experience and expertise above, I do cover a wide range of content and tuition needs.
