About Dexter
I’m a friendly and dedicated tutor with a First-Class degree in English Literature from the University of Exeter and an MA in English: Issues in Modern Culture from UCL. I also hold a 120-hour TEFL qualification and have over two years of teaching experience in South Korea, where I taught students from elementary to high-school level and developed curricula for gifted learners.
My academic background has given me a strong understanding of literature, language, critical thinking and essay writing. Alongside my classroom experience, I have worked with students individually, adapting my approach to their abilities, interests and learning goals.
I believe that good teaching is about helping students understand not just what to learn, but how to learn. I aim to make lessons engaging, well-structured and tailored to each student, building confidence while developing the skills they need to succeed independently.
Outside teaching, I’m interested in literature, film, history and international

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, whether they are preparing for exams, improving their written work or developing confidence in English.
With a First-Class degree in English Literature from the University of Exeter, an MA from UCL and over two years of teaching experience in South Korea, I bring both subject knowledge and practical teaching experience to my lessons.
English Literature and Language: I help students develop close-reading skills, analyse literary techniques, explore themes and context, and construct clear, well-supported essays. For GCSE and A-Level students, lessons can focus on exam technique, essay planning, set texts and poetry.
Academic Writing and Critical Thinking: I teach students how to structure arguments, develop interpretations, use evidence effectively and express complex ideas clearly.
Conversational English: For learners looking to improve their spoken English, I offer relaxed, structured lessons focusing on fluency, vocabulary.
