About Sophie
I graduated from University of Birmingham with a 2:1 English BA in 2005. English literature was my passion throughout my school and university studies and I always achieved excellent standards (A grades at GCSE, Advanced Extension Award and A-Level).
I completed a Graduate Diploma Course in Law and qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 and practised litigation for 9 years before moving over to legaltech. My love of English language and literature has served me well throughout my career, in drafting complex documents, constructing legal arguments, and communicating in a clear and concise way.
I have been working as a student mentor (for the Institute of Risk Management) since 2019, coaching students through remote courses through webinar sessions, moderation of discussion forums and so on.
English literature remains a passion of mine and I am keen to help students enjoy and succeed, and reach their best potential. Happy of course to tailor lessons to your particular needs and focus areas.

My methods get to the heart of what needs to be learned, what skills refined, what outcome is needed, and by when!
We will agree upon a focus, structure and desired outcome/achievement, and then work through a plan to get there in via the most efficient route. My teaching style is methodical and thorough, and I will of course flex to students' key focus areas.
