About Zoey
Personally, English has always been one of my greatest interests. Reading and story-writing in elementary school turned into a strong drive for academic writing in high school, which has now become an overall passion for both creative and professional writing in university. This is where I'm continuously developing my English skills as an undergrad and gaining experience in the real writing world!
Over the years, I have earned academic awards for my academic abilities. These include winning the English Subject Award (University Level) at my high school graduation, the Academic Success Award for the overall highest average of 96% in my third year of high school, and attaining several scholarships when I was accepted into university. Additionally, writing creatively is a hobby I've pursued for quite some time now. My stories were published in the Creative Writing Club's annual publication at school, and my poetry was published to my school's newspaper where I was also Co-President.
Throughout this time of exploring the written word, I also chose to share my knowledge and passion with other students who wanted to improve their English skills by tutoring.

For elementary school students, I firstly assess their reading and writing abilities. I do this by practicing the two skills through the use of reading-level appropriate books and writing worksheets to see where they are in the subject. Afterwards, a lesson plan will be developed and used until confidence and progressed is gain by the student.
For high school students, I will read their written work such as essays, presentations, and other projects and then provide helpful suggestions to improve their writing. This includes taking a deep look into diction, grammar, and punctuation. Developing proper essay and thesis structure is also something I keep a keen eye on for high school students.
Ultimately, I like to learn and understand students' goals within the subject of English and help them attain them to the best of our collaborative ability.
