About Aman

I have over 10 years of teaching experience in an Outstanding secondary school and have been an AQA English Language and English Literature examiner for the past nine years. I hold both a BA and an MA in Comparative Literature from Queen Mary University of London, before going on to complete my PGCE. I have spent my teaching career in a high-performing inner London secondary school, where I have developed extensive expertise in helping students achieve academic success. Alongside my teaching, I now serve as an Assistant Headteacher, combining classroom excellence with whole-school leadership to support outstanding outcomes for students.

About the lesson

I specialise in English Language and English Literature, with a Master's degree in Literature that is directly relevant to the analysis required for the new GCSE and A-Level specifications. As a former AQA GCSE Examiner, I offer valuable insight into what examiners are looking for, helping students develop the skills, confidence, and exam technique needed to achieve their full potential. For many years, I have taught students working at a wide range of starting points, from those needing additional support to those aiming for the very highest grades. My personalised approach has consistently helped students make significant progress and improve their grades. Every student begins with a baseline assessment to identify their strengths and any gaps in knowledge. I then create a tailored learning plan that focuses on their individual needs, ensuring every lesson is purposeful and targeted. To make the most of our lesson time, I set personalised homework and pre-reading tasks so that students become familiar with texts or topics before each session. This allows us to focus on developing sophisticated analysis, refining writing skills, and mastering the exam techniques required for success. I believe that regular communication is key to achieving the best outcomes. Parents are kept informed of their child's progress through ongoing updates, ensuring they are aware of achievements, areas for development, and the next steps in their learning journey.
