About Laura

I am a creative and enthusiastic English teacher/ Fitness and dance teacher with over ten years of valuable experience in both England and Turkey at the following levels: KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 (GCSE), KS5 (A level) IGCSE AND IB. After having taught in well-known schools and Universities in Oxford and Manchester I was offered a leadership role in a school in Istanbul. I was very privileged to work at the prestigious school where I led a team of English teachers. After four enjoyable and rewarding years teaching in Istanbul, I returned to the UK to teach. Throughout my career, I have shown that I can provide imaginative lessons. Seeing faces light up when my students have learnt something new and watching their overall development has been highly rewarding. Communication and organisational skills, in my view, are two of my main strengths. I plan effectively and manage time and resources well. I am currently studying for a PHD. I enjoy dancing, swimming, travelling and reading a variety of literature. I have enjoyed learning Turkish to an advanced level.

I have taught at KS3, GCSE English Language and Literature, Cambridge IGCSE English Language, IB English Language and Literature and A level English Language and Literature. I have also taught IELTS and EFL and EAL. Experience gained at different schools at which I have taught has provided me with knowledge of a broad curriculum spread and has enabled me to become familiar with the assessment objectives at all Key Stages. I have taught students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and also working with second language students I recognise the importance of differentiation. I have always been awarded outstanding in OFSTED lesson and leadership observations. My students have always performed to a high standard in exams with outstanding results. Having taught regular one to one sessions with students of different ages, abilities and needs over the years I feel confident in my ability to deliver these sessions.

About the lesson

During my tutoring sessions I aim to provide a stimulating learning environment and to facilitate my students’ academic development. The key to this sustained progress, in my opinion, is maintaining high expectations of them and myself. In my sessions I always look to share the learning objectives based on student’s personal needs and provide constructive feedback. I believe I am a creative teacher and use my enthusiasm to bring the subject alive. I feel that I have the qualities that would make me an exemplary tutor and look forward to meeting you.
