About John
Ever since I started studying calculus and physics, I've been fascinated by the "why" behind every concept. Instead of memorizing formulas, I wanted to understand what the mathematics actually represented geometrically and physically. I believe students learn best when they can visualize ideas rather than memorize procedures. I'm currently studying engineering while continuing my coursework in calculus, physics, differential equations, and linear algebra. During lessons I encourage students to ask questions, explain their thinking, and build confidence by understanding the reasoning behind each step rather than relying on memorization. In addition to tutoring, I develop interactive mathematical visualizations that help students build intuition in calculus, multivariable calculus, vector calculus, and physics. These tools allow students to explore concepts dynamically rather than simply memorizing equations.

I'm an engineering student with a passion for helping students truly understand mathematics and physics.
My teaching style focuses on building intuition. Rather than simply showing steps to solve a problem, I explain why each concept works using visual reasoning, real-world examples, and interactive 2D and 3D mathematical models that I've created myself. Whether we're studying derivatives, integrals, vectors, multivariable calculus, or physics, my goal is to help you see the mathematics instead of treating it as a list of procedures.
I specialize in:
Algebra
Geometry
Trigonometry
Precalculus
Calculus I & II
Introductory Physics
I can also help students beginning Calculus III topics that I've completed.
During our sessions, I encourage questions and adapt my explanations to your learning style. If a topic has multiple ways to approach it, we'll explore the one that makes the most sense to you. Typically I aim for a full general conceptual understanding of a topic before introducing methods of computation.
Whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up after falling behind, aiming for an A, or learning as a hobby or goal, I'll help you build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of the material, not just finish your homework.
