About Katelyn
I’m a student at the CUNY Honors College studying civil engineering with a minor in journalism; my academic path reflects both my love for technical problem solving and my strength in communication.
Throughout high school, I served as a teacher’s assistant every year across multiple math and STEM courses; sophomore year for geometry, junior year for AP Precalculus and Physics, and senior year for AP Calculus AB and BC. These experiences taught me how to support different learning styles, explain concepts in multiple ways, and create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions.
I’m deeply driven and naturally curious; I’ve always balanced a wide range of interests, from podcasting to creative hobbies, which has strengthened my ability to connect with different types of learners. At the center of everything I do is empathy; I prioritize making students feel supported, understood, and capable.
Communication is one of my strongest assets; I focus on meeting students where they are, listening closely, and adapting my teaching to what works best for them. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but to help them see STEM as something engaging, intuitive, and even enjoyable.
Long term, I aspire to become a professor and reshape how students experience math and science; I want to show that these subjects are not intimidating or inaccessible, but creative, interconnected, and deeply human.

I’m a highly visual and patient tutor who focuses on making complex concepts actually make sense. I don’t just explain things; I break them down into clear steps using charts, color-coding, and structured visuals so you can see how everything connects.
A big part of my teaching style is creating personalized slides and materials for each student; every session is tailored to your specific needs, learning style, and pace, not a one-size-fits-all approach. You’ll leave with organized, easy-to-follow visuals you can revisit anytime.
I also rely on analogies and real-life comparisons to make abstract topics feel more intuitive and less overwhelming; my goal isn’t just to help you get the right answer, but to help you understand why it works so you can confidently tackle new problems on your own.
I create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can ask questions and take your time; if you’ve ever felt lost or like things are moving too fast, I’ve got you. We’ll slow it down, organize everything, and make it click.
