About Trevor
I'm a student at Lehigh University pursuing a dual degree in engineering and computer science. My academic background has both strong analytical problem-solving and hands-on technical experience, which I bring directly into my tutoring.
In addition to my coursework, I conduct research in a bioengineering lab focused on neuron behavior and electrically active systems. My work involves understanding how neurons respond to different stimuli and designing systems to study those interactions. This allows me to break complex concepts down to smaller issues and focus on concepts that will be most applicable to real-world situations.
Because of this background, I teach more than formulas, and I help students understand how concepts connect and why they matter. Whether it’s calculus, physics, or programming, I approach problems the same way I do in research: step-by-step, logically, and with a focus on building true understanding.
As a dual-degree student balancing engineering and computer science, I understand how challenging STEM courses can be. I’ve taken many of the same classes my students are in, so I know where people typically struggle and how to explain those topics clearly.
My goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also gain confidence and independence when approaching difficult material.

People's learning is far from linear, which my lesson plans take advantage of. Before our lesson even begins, I develop a plan customized to my students' unique style of learning and their unique weaknesses and strengths. During the lesson, I ask questions to understand what the student does and doesn't understand. In my experience, taking the time to hear how the student has arrived at a solution is instrumental in rectifying any mistakes and correcting their problem-solving strategy.
I have experience working with a large range of students, from middle school to college. Therefore, the structure of my lessons varies depending on who the lesson is for. For a high schooler, a lesson begins by looking at past work, both right and wrong answers. This allows me to compare and contrast what allowed the student to arrive at the right answer, which makes identifying any areas of uncertainty incredibly easy.
