About Joel

I am a licensed attorney. I retired after a 35 year career in affordable housing. I have taught at the university level and have tutored my 14 year old daughter's friends in music in preparation for their auditions at Creative and Performing Arts High School.

About the lesson

I have been certified to teach on line and I am happy to engage students individually or in small groups. My legal and professional background qualify me to teach history and civics or in any academic subject that requires well written work. I am qualified to teach mathematics through Algebra 1.

I met Joel when our daughters became friends in second grade. Since then, he's been a great advocate for my daughter as well as for other kids in her circle. He helped prepare my daughter for an audition and was reassuring, encouraging, and patient -- that's so important in a tutor, and parents often can't be patient with their own kids. And with 40 years of experience in law and public housing, he's more than qualified to tutor in civics. He'll do a great job and will make them think.
