About Rob
I am a writer, analyst, and film critic with a lifelong passion for the English language and the power of storytelling. My background in English Literature and Film Studies has shaped how I see the world—I don't just consume stories, I love to take them apart to see how they work. I believe that communication is the most valuable skill you can own. Whether I’m helping a student nail their GCSE English analysis or guiding a writer through their first short story, my goal is to make the process clear and rewarding. I pride myself on being a patient, articulate, and friendly tutor who can bridge the gap between "having an idea" and "putting it perfectly onto the page." When I’m not tutoring, I’m usually deep in a film review or practising what I preach through my own creative writing. I bring that same energy and professional standard to every lesson, helping my students find their own unique voice. Rob

About My Lessons My teaching style is all about making complex ideas simple and helping you find your own voice. Whether we are deconstructing a film, analysing a poem, or drafting a short story, I focus on building your confidence and your technical skill. My Methodology: Analytical Deep-Dives: We don't just look at what happens in a story; we look at how and why it was made. I use my experience as a film critic to teach you how to spot themes and techniques others miss. Essay & Structure Mastery: I specialise in helping students turn their thoughts into well-argued, high-scoring essays. We focus on clarity, flow, and vocabulary. Creative Growth: For creative writing, I provide constructive feedback on world-building and character arcs to help you polish your work to a professional standard. Lesson Details: Length: Standard sessions are 60 minutes, which allows enough time for a deep-dive into a topic plus a practical writing exercise. Experience: I have extensive experience in academic analysis and professional criticism. I know exactly what examiners and editors are looking for. Who it’s for: My lessons are ideal for GCSE and A-Level students, university applicants, or hobbyists looking to improve their writing and critical thinking.
