About Mia

Hello! My name is Erna, and I am passionate about helping students achieve their language goals with confidence and enjoyment. I am completing my 420-hour TEFL Diploma (awaiting final results) and offer lessons in English (General & Business) as well as Afrikaans. I previously worked for more than 30 years as an office administrator, where clear communication and professionalism were key to success. This experience, combined with my teaching training, allows me to bring structure, patience, and real-world skills into every lesson. I enjoy teaching all levels, from beginners to advanced learners, and I currently have a special love for working with young children, inspired by my own 2.5-year-old daughter. My teaching style is student-centered, interactive, and supportive, with plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and build confidence. Outside of teaching, I love cycling (I often take part in 100 km races!), animals, and the outdoors. I look forward to making your learning journey rewarding, motivating, and fun!

About the lesson

Hello! I am currently completing my 420-hour TEFL Diploma (awaiting final marks) and I love making language learning enjoyable, practical, and motivating. I offer private tutoring in ESL, Business English, and Afrikaans, with lessons tailored to each student’s goals and learning style.

My methodology: I believe in interactive, student-centered learning. I use real-life examples, role-plays, discussions, and creative activities to ensure lessons are relevant and memorable. My background and love for sport and teamwork add energy and motivation to each session.

Languages: I am fluent in English and Afrikaans and able to teach confidently in both.

Lesson experience: In a typical class, you can expect clear explanations, lots of speaking practice, and personalized feedback. I focus on building confidence, accuracy, and fluency while keeping lessons fun and engaging.
