About Julia

My background includes multiple AP English courses in high school, as well as a reputation of the "Diagramming Club" President for two consecutive years. I have done musical theatre for 6 years, and I have performed and participated in productions throughout high school. I am a singer-songwriter, who enjoys all things music, performing, and writing. I am a current Psychological Sciences student at the University of California Irvine, and a prospective Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student. I will be graduating with my Bachelor's degree in March, 2024.

I have always enjoyed helping students gain a higher knowledge of English and grammar. During my time as the Diagramming Club President in high school, I guided students through their difficulties with grammar and Essay writing. I've worked with international students, who have had difficulties with basic English writing and grammar, as well as middle school and high school students who simply seek to strengthen their comprehensive skills.

Learning new concepts is hard, and I am here to help! I have certainly been in your shoes before, and I have no doubts that I will be again. I applaud you for seeking guidance in your educational journeys, and I hope that we are a good fit! :)

About the lesson

When working with my students, I like to review what the student is working on before the session and assess their knowledge as we begin. I go over any assignments that they are struggling with, provide examples, and test their retainment. I ask about their interests, goals, and main concerns, keeping them in mind as we progress forward with their studies.

I like to make my lesson plans both structured and engaging, using positive reinforcement along the way as motivation to conquer each session! Because of my extensive experience working with children in academic settings, I have found that tailoring the lesson plan to each unique individual yields the most effective results.

I am comfortable teaching elementary aged children from grades k-8 on English curriculum, as well as introductory high school students (grades 9-10). Additionally, I enjoy aiding undergraduates on their introductory psychology courses
