About Marissa
I have been teaching and tutoring for more than 10 years. I have taught dozens of students and have seen each and every one of them grow in their mathematical ability and in their self confidence in math. I have brought students who were failing their math classes up to A's and B's. I have seen students who were in tears working on math to a place of confidence and even joy working on math. I am passionate about helping students overcome their hurdles in math and come to a place of confidence and success in math. I have taught every level of math from basic math (elementary) to college level math/Calculus. I have worked with English learners, students with disabilities, failing students, exceptionally bright students, and many other levels and abilities of students.

I am VERY encouraging when I tutor! I want to enable students to be able to learn on their own eventually and to believe in themselves. I typically ask students a lot of questions to evaluate where they are at and to gather as much information as I can so that I know how to best help them. I have a plethora of tools and skills in how to taylor what my lessons look like to what my student needs. I can take a leading role and teach, I can let the student lead and answer their questions, I can draw diagrams, I can re-explain things in new ways, along with many other strategies and tools.

I charge the same rate regardless of math level and student ability. I don't charge for travel if it's within 15 minutes of where I am.
