About Kai
I am a passionate saxophone tutor with over 12 years of experience teaching college students. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in both technique and music theory, while keeping lessons fun and interactive. I believe that every student has a unique style, and I customise my lessons to suit individual learning preferences. I use a mix of classical exercises, modern jazz techniques, and real-life music examples to make learning practical and exciting.
I encourage students to explore improvisation, understand musical expressions, and develop confidence in performing. My lessons are designed to improve not only technical skills but also creativity and musicality. I regularly introduce innovative methods, such as play-along sessions, recording practice, and using digital tools to track progress.
Apart from saxophone, I also guide students in understanding music theory, ear training, and composition basics. I take pride in creating a supportive and motivating environment where students feel confident to experiment, make mistakes, and grow as musicians.
Whether you want to play in a band, perform solo, or just enjoy music as a hobby, I will help you achieve your goals with patience, guidance, and personalised teaching.

My saxophone teaching methodology focuses on adaptability, collaboration, and positivity. I design lessons to match each student’s learning style, pace, and goals—through listening exercises, demonstration, and hands-on practice.
Flexibility is at the core of my approach. Lessons are adjusted according to student progress, motivation, and interests, ensuring learning is engaging, effective, and inspiring. Collaboration allows students to actively contribute ideas, explore improvisation, and shape their learning journey, building both skill and confidence.
I foster a positive and supportive environment where achievements are celebrated and challenges are treated as opportunities for growth. Lessons cover saxophone technique, improvisation, musical expression, performance skills, and theory for a well-rounded foundation.
In addition to saxophone, I teach sight-reading, ensemble performance, ear training, and music theory. My aim is to nurture expressive, confident musicians with a lifelong love for music.
