About Katie
Hello! My name is Katie and my primary focus in teaching is reading fluency and comprehension for young students. I am currently working towards my BA in Early Education with a focus in teaching reading for grades K-5. Knowing how to read is only half the goal- remembering and retaining what has been read for future reference, testing and general learning is paramount to student success. The program I teach from has helped students tremendously including my own children at home.

I approach reading fluency and early reading through mastering a list of sight words and providing fluency passages to practice throughout the week. I, with the help of parents, will track the student's progress on a mastery log which helps determine reading level and allows for adjustments as necessary.
