About Emma
With 8 years of experience teaching guitar, I’ve learned that the best lessons come from understanding each student as an individual. Music is personal, and no two learners are alike. That’s why I build lessons that reflect not just the skill level, but also the interests, personality, and learning style of the student. I’ve taught students from middle school all the way to college. Some wanted to join school bands. Others dreamed of starting their own. Whatever the goal, the lesson plan is clear, realistic, and motivating. Real-life case studies and famous songs help students connect with the music in a meaningful way. I once taught a student who had only played by ear. He didn’t know theory or scales, but he had a great sense of rhythm. We built on what he already knew, and slowly added structure and knowledge. He went on to write original songs and even recorded an EP. In my lessons, students don’t just learn how to play—they learn how to listen, analyze, and express. Skills like timing, song structure, and creativity are part of the process. The most fulfilling part of this work is helping students believe in their abilities. It’s not just about playing the guitar—it’s about discovering what they’re capable of.

This approach is all about unlocking your creativity. We learn the rules, then explore how to bend and break them to make something original. My goal is to give you a solid guitar foundation, then teach you how to use it to create your own style and sound.
I create space for open communication—you’re encouraged to ask questions, suggest ideas, and shape your own path. Whether you want to write songs, improvise solos, or rearrange covers in a unique way, I support your creative direction.
I adapt each lesson to how you think and feel. Some students love structure, while others need freedom. Some want the “why” behind every note, while others learn by feel. I respond to what helps you thrive.
We examine case studies of innovative players—like how St. Vincent uses alternative tunings or how Tom Morello turns effects pedals into instruments. These stories inspire you to explore, not just copy.
I also teach composition basics, songwriting, loop-based creativity, chord substitution, alternate tunings, and melodic phrasing, giving you tools to invent, express, and develop your musical identity with confidence.
