About Nolan
With a PhD and background as a classically trained actor, I offer a unique approach to English and creative writing. My academic work provides a foundation for deep analysis, while my performance experience offers practical techniques for effective communication. I have spent years exploring how words function on the page and in live performance, and I bring that insight to every lesson. I focus on helping students find their own voice through a mix of scholarly inquiry and creative experimentation. My goal is to provide guidance that respects the individual goals of each writer.

• As an educator with a PhD, I provide English and creative writing tutoring using a mix of analysis and theatre techniques. This approach focuses on the rhythm and impact of language to help students build confidence in their own voice.
• A typical lesson starts by analyzing a text, assignment, or draft to clarify what you want it to say and what effect you want it to have. From there, we test different structures, tones, and phrasing so you can express your ideas with more precision and power.
• Lessons are tailored to you as an individual and highly structured for your current needs, whether you are drafting an essay, analyzing a text, or developing a creative project. These sessions are for anyone who wants an intuitive and engaging way to learn without a rigid one-size-fits-all plan, from high school students to undergraduate and graduate students who want to strengthen their writing and critical thinking skills. My combination of academic expertise and stage experience supports lessons that are both rigorous and creatively stimulating.
