About Ingy

I’m an experienced English teacher and former Head of Department with several years of experience teaching secondary and high school students in international schools.

What I enjoy most about teaching English is helping students reach the point where something that once felt confusing suddenly makes sense. Whether it is analyzing literature, structuring an essay, improving writing or preparing for an assessment, I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their own ideas.

I’m supportive and approachable, but I also believe in challenging students to achieve more than they initially think they can. My classroom experience has taught me that every student learns differently, so I adapt my explanations and approach accordingly.

For me, good English teaching is about more than passing an exam. It is about giving students the confidence to communicate, think critically and express themselves clearly.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to the student’s current level, goals, and learning style rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I begin by identifying strengths, gaps, and the specific skills that need improvement, then build lessons around clear objectives, guided practice, feedback, and gradual independence.

My teaching combines structured explanation with practical application. Depending on the learner, I use visual examples, modeling, scaffolded tasks, discussion, project-based activities, digital tools, and targeted practice. For writing, I focus on helping students understand structure, purpose, evidence, analysis, and clarity rather than memorizing formulas.

Lessons are typically 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s age, goals, and the intensity of the work.

I hold an MA in Education and have around 10 years of experience in English Language Arts, academic writing, literacy, curriculum, assessment, intervention, and exam preparation. I have also worked as an English Department Head and ELA Team Leader, with particularly strong experience at the secondary level.

My lessons are suitable for students who need support with ELA, academic and analytical writing, reading comprehension, grammar, research, essay writing, SAT/ACT/EST English preparation, study skills, and academic literacy.

I aim to make students feel comfortable enough to ask questions, take risks, and think independently while still maintaining clear expectations and measurable progress.
