I am a current graduate student in the education program. I have been working with students for almost four years within classroom environments with a focus on individual instruction for students who were struggling. Within these individual tutoring sessions, students typically found understanding by the end of the class period.

I believe that every student has the ability to learn and succeed, it is the duty of the instructor to discover the source of misunderstanding and develop lessons that engage the student. I do not sit and lecture during tutoring sessions, it is important that the student interacts with the mathematics so that we can discuss any issues that may come up. Once a problem has been solved, we discuss how and why they chose to solve the problem and got their answer. My students have hands on tutoring to best engage them during the sessions.
