About Shelby
I am a graduate of education that has decided to specialise in Psychology and am currently undergoing a master's to do this. I work as a support worker with clients that have various mental and physical disorders.
I have tutored primary aged children before; both in charity organizations and in local primary schools during my undergraduate degree in Newcastle. I had held a full, clean DBS since 2015 and absolutely love the work that I do. What I want to do now is help others learn about how amazing these two areas are!
I am knowledgeable in a range of topics such as:
- English (Language and Literature) I studied both of these up to A-Level standard and thoroughly enjoyed them so am more than happy to teach from primary to A-Level.
- Psychology (As a student I have gained invaluable knowledge of this field that I would be more than happy to pass on to others)
- Academic writing (this can be anything from university entrance such as personal statements, to structuring essays and presentations)
- Career development/sourcing (I am more than happy to help with CV's, job interviews and planning your next career step).

My main approach to teaching is patience. Obviously people learn at different levels and shouldn't be tracked alongside the "average" amount of time it takes to learn and understand a subject, especially if grades are depending on it! Therefore, I like to get a feel for my students, to see how they'd best like to learn.
For example, a student may rely upon pictures and diagrams, whilst another may enjoy paragraphs of information to read and digest. Some may even prefer video content. It is literally whatever way you work best, I will absolutely try my best to accommodate you.
