About Estéfano
Born in Quito, Ecuador. Self-taught how to play the flute, write and read in western notation and theory, slowly developed his compositional skills with an emphasis on performance from age 14.
After working on multiple independent productions, received a full-tuition scholarship award from Berklee College of Music, where I currently study and lead many Andean and world fusion programs and projects. I co-lead and participated with my band "Yahuar Kedi" in the Ecuador Jazz Fest 2024. As well as being a recurrent guest artist in the south american tour of the peruvian saxofonist Diego Herrera. Lately releasing a live album of my original compositions "El Disque Chukllu", and "El Mañaná", a single featuring the greek singer and composer María Delaporta. My latest performances have been with the Ensamble del Viento Ecuador (The Ecuador Wind Ensemble) in the International Flute Festival 2025 and the pre-eliminary auditions for the Quito Fest 2025, where I performed both bass and toyo (bass panflute).

The one to one, oral tradition teaching is a fundamental way of the way I work, and can always be complemented with written material and exercises. The idea will never be to memorize, but to know the instrument, traditions, styles and theories.
I have an adaptive teaching style. Depending on the student, the lessons can have a slow, not over-demanding pace, as well as setting challenging, intensive goals.
A great focus on developing a healthy relationship with the instrument, the body and the art, in order to seed a long lasting career.
