About Ng

I am a calm, approachable, and patient GCSE Maths tutor who understands that confidence plays a huge role in success. I know that many students feel anxious about maths, so I focus on creating a supportive and relaxed environment where no question feels silly and mistakes are treated as part of the learning process.

In lessons, I am structured and focused, but also encouraging and positive. I celebrate progress, however small, and make sure students leave each session feeling clearer and more capable than when they started. I believe consistency, clear explanations, and honest feedback are key to improvement.

Students can expect someone who is reliable, well prepared, and genuinely invested in their progress. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students feel more confident in their own ability and fully prepared going into their GCSE exams.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching GCSE Maths is structured, patient, and focused on results. I aim to ensure students develop a secure understanding of core topics while also improving their confidence and exam performance.

At the start, I assess the student’s current level to identify gaps in knowledge and areas that need strengthening. I then break topics down into clear, logical steps and guide students through worked examples before moving on to independent practice. I place strong emphasis on exam style questions, method marks, and showing clear working, as these are crucial for achieving higher grades.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes. We begin with a brief recap to reinforce previous learning, then focus on a specific topic before applying it to exam style questions. This structured format helps students build consistency and progress over time.

Alongside studying Economics at university, where I regularly apply mathematical and analytical skills, I have worked as a Maths Teaching Assistant in an international school in Malaysia, supporting students from Year 8 to Year 11. In this role, I worked one to one and in small groups, helping students of different abilities understand key concepts and prepare for assessments. This experience has given me a clear understanding of the GCSE curriculum, common misconceptions, and how to adapt explanations depending on the student’s needs.

My tutoring is suitable for Year 7 to Year 11 students, particularly those aiming for Grades 8 to 9 in GCSEs or looking to strengthen their exam technique. I focus on maintaining high expectations while creating a supportive learning environment that encourages steady improvement.
